CozyCats frequently asked questions
You may be able to find the answer to your questions below. If not then we are happy to help, just give us a call.
Please click the links below to expand and collapse the questions Can we bring the bed our cat normally uses?
Yes - CozyCats will provide a bed and bedding, but they are never the same as their own home comforts, it is much more comfortable for your cat to have its own blanket as it will have a familiar smell to it and will help your cat settle down quickly.
During the colder months or inclement weather our beds are heated for your cats comfort at no extra cost.
Why aren't you open all day?
It is very important for your cat's comfort and sense of security that they are subjected to the minimum of disturbance. The appearance of strangers at unpredictable times of the day would be stressful to cats who find comfort in routine and familiarity, so we do our utmost to ensure that disturbance is kept to a minimum.
We also have to ensure that we maintain adequate supplies of food and other necessities for your cats while they are in our care and by having routine opening hours we can plan our days and ensure we have those supplies
Although our opening times may not always be to our human customer's total convenience, our feline customer's needs must take priority!
Are you open on a Sunday?
Yes but we hope you appreciate that looking after customer's cats is a 24/7 commitment. As we are open to the public virtually all year round we like to keep the majority of Sundays for our family and we are therefore only open for a very limited time.
If you are back off your holiday on a Sunday but can't make our opening time we may still be able to come to some arrangement by appointment. We do try to be flexible, but please understand if we have to say no.
Are your Boarding Fees all inclusive?
All our boarding fees (as indicated on our prices page) include the following: Food, Boarding, Insurance, Heating, Litter, and VAT.
Administration of medication and insulin injections are also included. No hidden extras!
How do we work out the total Boarding Fees we will have to pay?
To calculate your total boarding fees just simply multiply the appropriate boarding fee by the number of boarding days. For example you bring your 2 cats in on Monday 1st September and collect on Saturday 6th September to calculate the price for 2 cats x the number of days. i.e. £?? x 6. If you collect your cat before close in the morning you can deduct one day, it helps us to have cats collected early so we will give you a bonus for helping us. You can also use the calculator on the prices page of this website.
If I make a booking and the situation changes can I cancel it?
We would appreciate you letting us know as soon as you can. We do reserve the right to make a charge for very late cancellations and no shows during peakmtimes when we could have filled the space many times over.
What vaccinations must my cat have to stay at your cattery?
For all our cat boarders' protection, we need to see your cat's up-to-date vaccination records and vaccination history. All cats must be immunised against Feline Enteritis and Cat Flu.
Please ensure the initial course of injections is completed at least 2 weeks prior to boarding.
The vaccination record must show that subsequent boosters have been administered every 12 months.
Please call us if you are in any doubt about your cat's vaccination history.
CozyCats reserves the right to refuse entry without proof of vaccination and history.
If my cat has never been vaccinated what do I do?
You must contact a vet and get your cat booked in for its vaccinations. We will not be able to board your cat until it has had its primary and secondary vaccinations which take about 5 weeks to complete.
What's the youngest a kitten can be for you to board them?
Normally at least 6 months old - Kittens must also be fully vaccinated before entry to this or any other cattery. They are usually at least 13 weeks old before their vaccination course is complete. Young kittens are still in the process of settling into their new home and learning toilet training, so boarding before 6 months can disrupt home routine and training at an important stage. We give special attention to young kittens to make sure they settle in well and feel stimulated and cared for. Please contact the cattery if you are at all concerned.
Do cats have access to the outside?
All chalets have an exercise area where they are free to come and go as they please but they cannot go outside.
How often do you clean the chalets?
Our units are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and sprayed with a feline friendly viruscide prior to your cat's arrival. Litter trays are regularly cleaned and all soiling removed.
What do we do if we are unavoidably delayed in collecting our cat?
If you are delayed for any reason, please let us know as soon as possible. We will try to leave your cat in the same chalet when booking commitments allow. In rare instances during peak periods they may have to be moved to another chalet or if your delay is very short to one of our holding pens.
Do you board elderly cats?
Yes, all cats eventually get older and we have many cats that have been coming to us for a long time so CozyCats is very capable of looking after your elderly cat.
Do you board disabled cats?
Yes, we have customers who have disabled cats or cats with special needs and we will always discuss their needs with you to ensure that we give them the appropriate care. Please call us if you have any concerns.
Will you provide the food our cat usually eats?
We try our best to keep your cat on the diet it is used to at home if that is one of the major brands, even if it's a speciality. If they are on a vet prescribed diet then we would ask you to bring it with you so that we are certain of maintaining it. If you prefer, you can bring in enough of your own food to last for the first 2- 3 days and by then we will have obtained sufficient for the remainder of your cats stay, if we haven't already got it, we keep a wide variety at all times.
Our cat is on a special diet/is a fussy eater is that a problem?
All special dietary requirements are noted on your cats boarding form. Our staff makes sure these are administered daily, or as specified. Please bring special/prescription diets with you clearly labelling your requirements.
Our cat has a special feeding routine, is that a problem?
Meal times are twice each day, but if your cat needs small meals more often this can also be catered for. Young kittens and the very old would normally be fed three times a day, but if your cat needs small meals simply let us know at the time of booking, or when you bring your cat to the cattery.
Our cat is on medication can you administer it?
Any medical conditions must be explained when you book and you should also advise us at that time if your cat will require medication during its stay. Please bring the medication with you in veterinary dispensed containers, clearly labelled with your cat's name and dosage instructions. We do not charge for administering the medication.
What happens if our cat is taken ill while boarding with you?
All cats are checked very regularly, paying attention to appetite, drinking, toilet habits and behaviour, this allows us to spot trends quickly and take action promptly. It is very important you tell us about your cat's recent medical history so it can be taken into consideration should an illness occur.
We have an isolation unit where we can accommodate a cat that appears to be ill until we recieve veterinary advice on its treatment. We will endeavour to contact your veterinary practice as they have your cat's records.
If, however, we are unable to get your cat to your practice we have the support of our local veterinary practices with whom we have a very good working relationship.
Wherever possible before treatment is decided you and your own vet will be consulted unless it is an absolute emergency. We will always do our utmost to contact you as soon as possible should your cat need to see a vet. The insurance cover provided for in the booking fee includes medical cover for the duration of their stay with the exception of pre-existing conditions.
Please ensure you provide the cattery with an up to date Emergency Contact telephone number.
Can you collect and deliver our cat?
Yes but only locally and we will make a charge based on the mileage. Please contact us so that we can discuss the situation in more detail.
What do I do if I am not happy about something?
Cozycats wants all of its customers, human and feline to be happy with the cattery and the service it provides. If we have failed somewhere please bring it to our attention and we will endeavour to put it right.
